Lovely Lombok

I met a lovely solo female traveller during my stay in Ubud. We didn't originally plan to go to Lombok, but since Bali was really touristic than I expected, we decided to go to Lombok by boat which took us around 3 hours.

Lombok has loads of guesthouses and homestays in cheap prices. Kuta is near Lombok airport (around 20 mins drive) and with nice beaches. It is around 3 hours drive from the port.

Strolling around the town and I saw the picture of Pink beach, the gentlemen from the travel agency advised us not to go there on our own and hire a car cause of the difficult roads and we had to pass through the 'jungle'. We thought he was just trying to sell us the tour and hence, ignored him. The lady in our guesthouse warned us that the beach was far.

But, I wanted to hire a scooter as it would be cheaper of course and I love riding scooter. We checked on our google map and it was 2 hours: we thought we could make it.

So, we embarked on our journey to the pink beach.
On our way, there were no tourist at all. Everyone was local. We stopped in few places to ask for the way. Nobody spoke english...
We had around 40 minutes left to our destination and one of the guy stopped us and asked us where we were going! We said pink beach and he said to be careful as the roads are dangerous to get there!

And then it started! The gravels... and the scooter is not a good combination. It became so difficult for me to control the handle of my scooter. The condition of the roads were really bad. At one point I had to ask my friend to get off the scooter and walk downhill.
There were monkeys on the way, and the dogs too!
We really had to pass through the jungle!
It kinda got scary!

But after all that adventure, we were blessed with this beautiful beach so the journey was definitely worth it.

Ashtari OceanView Restaurant and Lounge Bar is such a chilled place, located on hill side from where you can get a view of sea.

We didn't get to spend much time in Lombok because I had a return flight from Bali so had to head back to Bali, but Lombok was just beautiful...
