Oh KK

Kota Kinabalu (KK), located in Borneo Island is a perfect place to be, if you are not a fan of tourist populated area like me.
Means of transportation in KK is Taxi as it is humid hot to walk around. They normally dont use meters and use fixed rate. On our last night, I overheard someone saying the city started using uber for a month now, therefore the other cheaper alternative to go around the city would be uber.

Jesselton point is a ferry terminal, located at the edge of the KK City Centre, from where you can take a boat to the islands in KK. Three famous islands are Sapi, Manukan and Mamutik. It will cost you around 30 ringgit/ £5 or less for return ticket. You can choose to just go to one island or do island- hopping (will cost you more). The last boat to return to KK will be at around 4 pm.

We hopped in a boat and chose to go to Manukan Island which took us around 10 minutes from Jesselton point. Crystal clear water, with its silver sands and lesser tourist, we just wanted to lie down and enjoy the sun.

Later, we did an hour jungle trekking and reached this sunset point. Again, we were the only one doing the trekking!

Sapi island has many water sports, so if you are into water sports for your holiday, Sapi island is for you, but Manukan island is laid back and chill... you can spot few people doing snorkelling but it is not as busy.

Back to KK city centre

Night life of KK is pretty busy in the Waterfront full of pubs, bar and restaurants. This place is a melting pot for all kind of cuisines from Malay, Thai, Korean to Irish and Australian bars.

You can really relax with a pint of beer or cocktails (as per your wish) and enjoy the wonderful sunset.

Borneo is famous for its rich forests and Mt Kinabalu is the highest mountain in Borneo. We joined the canopy walk tour costing around 150 ringgit/ £29 per head, which includes transportation, entrance to Kinabalu national park, view of Mt Kinabalu, lunch, jungle trek, canopy walk and hot springs. It will be small group tour with maximum 10 people.  It is pretty good deal and really worth it.

On our tour, this gentlemen from Philippines, when he found out we were from Nepal, said that he heard in Nepal the standard of life is measured by the level of their happiness...

We learn so much about our own country when we are travelling!

Free fish spa in the waterfall.

Spotted these roots on our walk to viewpoint of KK.

Last night at KK, back to Waterfront. Cocktails were buy one get one free in this Irish Bar and these ladies from the Irish bar were super cool and fun. We were the only ones there, till the closing time.

KK Intl Airport is right next to the sea, and here I go on to my next trip...
